Manufacturing | Production & Packaging Machinery

Day Shifts

A long-established manufacturing business in East Manchester is looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to support production uptime across manufacturing, process, and packaging machinery along with site services equipment.

This is a stable manufacturing environment with a well-established engineering team, long-standing workforce, and a varied workload covering reactive maintenance, planned maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement activity across the plant.

The Maintenance Engineer role would suit someone from a manufacturing, FMCG, packaging, food production, process manufacturing, or industrial production background who enjoys a hands-on engineering environment with a mix of mechanical and electrical maintenance work.

The Maintenance Engineer Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for keeping production machinery and site services running efficiently while supporting engineering improvements across the factory.

The Maintenance Engineer will be working on:

  • Production machinery
  • Process equipment
  • Packaging machinery
  • Conveyors and automated equipment
  • Pumps, motors, gearboxes, and drives
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Site services and utilities 

Responsibilities

  • Reactive and planned maintenance across manufacturing machinery
  • Fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems
  • Supporting production to minimise downtime
  • Preventative maintenance and engineering inspections
  • Working on packaging lines and process equipment
  • Assisting with continuous improvement projects
  • Maintaining site services equipment and utilities
  • Supporting engineering standards and health & safety compliance 

Requirements for this Maintenance Engineer role:

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing
  • Multi-skilled engineering background preferred
  • Experience working on production, process, or packaging machinery
  • Electrical fault finding ability beneficial
  • Mechanical maintenance experience essential
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or apprenticeship preferred
