Engineering Careers are rarely One-Size-Fits-All

Different sectors, machinery, shift patterns, automation levels and team structures all shape whether a role will be the right fit - not just the job title.

As specialist engineering recruiters, we support engineers working across:

  • Manufacturing & production environments
  • Special-purpose machinery & capital equipment
  • Food & Beverage & FMCG manufacturing
  • Machinery build, service, commissioning & projects

We focus on technical alignment, cultural fit and long-term outcomes, not pushing your CV into unsuitable roles.

Talk To Our Team

Led by an Engineering Recruitment Specialist

SimWest is owner-led by an experienced engineering recruiter with over 17 years’ experience supporting manufacturing and machinery businesses across the UK.

Every engineer we work with deals directly with a specialist who understands engineering roles, machinery environments and the realities of manufacturing work, not a junior consultant or generic recruiter. This hands-on approach ensures clear communication, honest advice and better long-term outcomes.

Industry Connections That Matter

Through years of specialist focus, SimWest has built strong relationships with engineering managers, manufacturers and machinery builders across food & beverage, FMCG, special-purpose machinery and wider manufacturing sectors.

These connections give engineers access to roles that are not always advertised, including confidential opportunities and expansion hires. We focus on matching engineers with businesses where their skills, experience and working style genuinely fit.

Candidate-Focused Support

We work in partnership with engineers, not just to place a CV, but to support informed career decisions.

From initial conversations through interviews and offers, you’ll receive clear detail on the role, company, environment, expectations and package, so there are no surprises. Our aim is simple: introduce you to opportunities that make sense for your experience, goals and long-term career.

FAQ

FAQs - Candidates

Q1. What types of Engineering roles do you recruit for?

We recruit for engineering positions across manufacturing and machinery environments, including maintenance, design, service & commissioning, controls & automation, project and production roles, from junior to senior levels.

Q.2 Do I need to be actively looking for a job to register with you?

No.  You can register whether you’re actively job hunting, quietly open to opportunities, or just curious about the current market. We always respect confidentiality and will never share your details without your consent.

Q3. What information do you need from me?

At minimum, we ask for a current CV detailing your experience, qualifications and key skills. The more detail you provide about your engineering background and preferences (location, shifts, machinery types), the better we can match you to suitable opportunities.

Q4. How do you match me to roles?

We match you based on your technical skills, specific engineering experience, sector background and career goals. We also consider culture fit, team environment and practical details like shift patterns, travel and tooling exposure.

Q5. Will you contact me about every job you have?

No. We only contact you about roles that align well with your background and stated preferences. Our aim is to save you time and only bring forward genuine, relevant opportunities.

Q6. Can you help with interview preparation?

Yes. Once we have a role in mind, we’ll share detailed information about the company, role expectations and interview format, and can discuss key talking points that matter to engineering hiring managers.

Q.7 Will you send my CV to companies without telling me?

No. We will never send your CV to any company without discussing the role with you first and receiving your approval. You remain in full control of where your CV is sent, and we only introduce you to opportunities you’ve agreed to consider.

Q.8 Will you contact my current employer?

No. We will never contact your current employer or share your details without your explicit permission. All conversations and CV submissions are handled in strict confidence, and you remain in full control of where and when your information is shared.

Q9. Do you charge engineers for your service?

No. Our service for candidates is completely free. We are paid by the companies we recruit for, so you never incur a fee for registering, support or placement.
