The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will support day-to-day engineering activity across production and packaging areas, working on both planned and reactive maintenance.

You will be involved in fault finding, diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, supporting continuous improvement projects, and helping the site get the best from its machinery.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who wants to make a visible impact rather than simply keep things ticking over.

Responsibilities

As Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Carry out reactive and planned maintenance on modern food production machinery
  • Work on high-speed packaging equipment, conveyors, motors, drives, sensors, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
  • Use PLC fault-finding skills to identify issues and support quick, effective repairs
  • Help reduce downtime and improve machine reliability
  • Support continuous improvement activity across the site
  • Work closely with production teams to keep lines running safely and efficiently
  • Contribute ideas that improve performance, reliability, and engineering standards

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer will have:

  • Experience in a manufacturing, FMCG, food, packaging, or fast-paced production environment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
  • PLC fault-finding skills
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and problem solving
  • A practical mindset with the ability to diagnose faults properly, not just apply quick fixes
  • A willingness to support continuous improvement and downtime reduction
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a small engineering team

What’s on Offer

  • Salary: £46,000 per annum
  • Shift: 12-hour rotating days and nights
  • Location: Preston, Lancashire
  • Life insurance
  • Company pension
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Training and development support
  • Opportunity to join a growing food manufacturing business with a strong culture
  • Modern production and high-speed packaging machinery
  • A business that will invest in your development

This is a strong opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer who wants to join a growing manufacturer, work with modern equipment, and be part of a business with genuine momentum.
