About the Role
Electrical Design Engineer
Machinery Manufacturing | South Leeds, West Yorkshire
£35,000 – £45,000 per annum
Early Finish Fridays – 1pm
The Role:
An extremely busy and growing machinery manufacturing business in South Leeds is looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of bespoke machinery and engineered automation solutions.
This Electrical Design Engineer position is primarily focused on electrical design, working closely with mechanical design, controls, and production teams to deliver robust, compliant, and customer-focused machinery projects.
Key Responsibilities
- As an Electrical Design Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:
- Designing and specifying electrical control circuits for bespoke machinery
- Producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bill of Materials (BOMs)
- Designing complete electrical control systems from concept through to final release
- Creating detailed electrical design drawings using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical
- Ensuring electrical designs meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering standards
- Supporting the build, testing, and commissioning process where required
- Working in a fast-paced, project-driven engineering environment
Controls & Software Development
- Experience with controls software (PLC / HMI) is an advantage but not essential for this Electrical Design Engineer role
- Full training and development can be provided for an Electrical Design Engineer who wishes to progress into controls and automation
Key Requirements
- Proven experience working as an Electrical Design Engineer within machinery manufacturing, automation, or special-purpose equipment
- Strong experience producing electrical schematics, control panel designs, and BOMs
- Confident use of electrical CAD tools, particularly AutoCAD
- Good understanding of industrial electrical standards and machine safety requirements
- Able to manage multiple projects within a busy manufacturing environment
