About Profile

A highly experienced Mechanical Fitter / Machinery Build Engineer with close to 20 years’ hands-on experience building custom-engineered machinery, having remained with a single specialist manufacturer until company closure.

This candidate has been heavily involved in the hands-on assembly of complete machines, working directly from engineering drawings and technical information. They are used to balancing multiple machinery builds at once, delivering equipment ranging from fast-turnaround assemblies through to large, technically demanding projects for regulated and high-performance environments.

Their experience covers the complete mechanical fit-out of machinery, assembling and installing a wide range of components to tight tolerances. This includes drive systems, handling mechanisms, safety systems, sensing equipment, and motion assemblies, as well as the installation and routing of hydraulic and pneumatic services as part of finished machines.

They are confident working with minimal supervision, resolving build and installation challenges through practical engineering judgement, with a consistent focus on reliability, presentation, and long-term serviceability.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Complete mechanical assembly of bespoke machinery
  • Working from engineering drawings and technical layouts
  • Complex rotating and multi-purpose equipment
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic integration
  • Accurate fitting, alignment, and mechanical build work
  • Use of workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, drills, press brakes, and guillotines
  • Machinery installation, relocation, and modification
  • Strong adherence to health & safety standards (PUWER, COSHH)

Ideal for:

Manufacturers of special-purpose machinery, industrial engineering operations, and production-focused environments seeking a hands-on, adaptable mechanical engineer with deep build experience and long-term project involvement.
